Dr. Tajvidi
Dr. Ali Asghar Tajvidi was born in Fasa in 1948. When he was 5 years old, prior to learning how to read and write, he turned to painting as he saw a picture of three little girls holding a flower basket. As a child he loved the art of painting. He was initially inspired by manifestations of nature. At the beginning he started designing applying his experience in painting subsequently in miniatures. Tajvidi is also a great master of such arts as oil colour painting, sculpture and water colour. His familiarity with the history of Ancient Iran and his studies in the artists of the European Renaissance and the great Iranian painting master Mahmoud Fashchian influenced his horizons of vision and his artistic productions greatly. After finishing the primary and secondary school studies he set out for Tehran to enhance his awareness of art studying in Tehran University of Fine Arts in visual arts in 1973 graduating in sculpture in 1977 gaining the first rank at the university. Simultaneous with sculpture he followed Iranian painting or miniature. Studying the culture of Ancient Iran, Tajvidi created invaluable works of art being indicative of great Iranian culture. In doing so he resorted to Iranian myths, the Avesta, Firdausi’s Shanamah, Khayyam’s Rubaiat, Hafez and the history of Ancient Iran. He has participated in the domestic and international fairs receiving awards and tokens of appreciation. 1. Token of Honor in “Miniature”, The Iranian painting from Art Addiction Sweden, 2002. 2. Token of Honor and special Award for the painting “Noruz in Takht-e-Jamshid” from the Ministry of the culture and Islamic Guidance, 1997. 3. The First Grade Token for Artistic work from Organization of Cultural Heritage, 2005. 4. Teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tehran, 1983 and 1984. 5. Participating in the Iranian Fairs on painting in Paris, Masghat, Eshgh Abad, Stockholm, The Museum for contemporary Arts in Tehran, Niavaran Culture Academy, and the artifact fairs held in Shiraz, Hamedan, Tabriz, etc. 6. Compiling two albums on Iranian painting, Hafez Anthology paintings and cooperating with Art Academy in paintings of Firdausi’s Shanamah.
